Fathers' work with the
indigenous people of Bolivia.
Bolivia has the largest number of native
people of any South American country.
It is also the poorest of all. The Yarumal
priests and Seminarians studying with
them are often indigenous Bolivians
themselves. They do much of their work
in the western half of the country in the
desert and Andes mountain communities.
The people there lead simple, rugged
lives, and are proud of their culture
and traditions. The great majority are
Catholic, and the Church has a great
responsibility to look after the physical,
emotional and spiritual well-being of the
people.
